About MeasureTwice
Building-material estimates that stay close to the buying decision.
MeasureTwice helps US homeowners, DIYers, and small-project planners estimate material quantity, rough cost, and shopping-list needs before buying supplies or comparing quotes.
Why this site exists
Many project calculators stop at one number. MeasureTwice is built around the full planning path: measure the shape, calculate material, compare buying routes, understand the formula, and keep a practical shopping list in view.
The current launch focus is concrete because the formulas are easy to audit and the buying decision matters: bagged mix can be convenient for small work, while ready-mix is often better for larger pours.
The site is static and tool-first. There are no user accounts, no hidden results, and no requirement to submit contact information to see an estimate.
Working principles
How MeasureTwice pages are built
Calculator first
Every major page starts with a usable calculator or a direct path to one. Results are visible without accounts, forms, or gated downloads.
Formula shown
We show the shape formula, unit conversion, waste allowance, and buying assumptions so users can spot-check the estimate before spending money.
Sources cited
Material yields and price assumptions are tied back to manufacturer references, industry guides, or clearly labeled planning ranges.
Estimate, not quote
Project conditions, local prices, delivery, labor scope, and code requirements can change a job. MeasureTwice is planning help, not a contractor bid.
Current coverage
Concrete first, then broader material hubs
The first hub covers concrete slabs, post holes, footings, walls, columns, stairs, curbs, and cost planning. Future hubs are planned for landscaping, roofing, paint, flooring, and masonry after the concrete workflow is fully validated.
Revenue disclosure
MeasureTwice may earn money from display ads, affiliate links, or contractor lead partners. Calculators remain free, and estimates are not changed to favor a vendor.
